BURKINA FASO has named Bertrand Traoré for his sixth Africa Cup of Nations, as the nation officially announced a 25-player squad for the 2025 tournament in Morocco. The 30-year-old striker, who made his AFCON debut at the age of 16 in the 2012 finals, has become one of Burkina Faso's most key players and even captained the team in the last edition of the tournament.
Coach Brama Traoré will depend on Traoré heavily as the team prepares for a tough Group E campaign.
Burkina Faso's first match is against Equatorial Guinea in Casablanca on December 24, followed by games against Algeria and Sudan in the group stage.
Veteran defender Steeve Yago, who is 32, is back for his fifth AFCON appearance, bringing valuable experience to the squad.
Other notable selections include goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, midfielder Blati Touré, and centre-back Issoufou Dayo, all of whom are making their fourth appearance in the tournament.
A total of 15 players from the squad that reached the round of 16 in the previous AFCON in Ivory Coast have been kept, providing continuity and stability as Burkina Faso aims to go further in the knockout stages this time.
