MALMO FF YOUTH DIRECTOR ACCUSES FC COPENHAGEN OF AGGRESSIVE SCOUTING OF CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS EIGHT

MALMO FF'S youth director has accused FC Copenhagen of being very aggressive in scouting young players, even those as young as eight. Aagren, a senior figure at Malmo FF, shared these concerns during an interview on the Lundh podcast via Fotbollskanalen. He said that FC Copenhagen scouts attend almost every youth game Malmo FF plays.

Aagren claimed that the Danish club keeps a close eye on 15 to 20 players in each age group at Malmo, sometimes starting from the age of nine.

He also mentioned that FC Copenhagen has approached kids at Malmo's football school. According to Aagren, some children as young as eight have been encouraged to cross the Øresund Bridge to join FC Copenhagen. He argues that this level of pressure is not suitable for young kids, who should instead play football locally and enjoy time with their friends.

These claims come after Politiken published a series of articles this year highlighting concerns about aggressive youth recruitment in Denmark, with FC Copenhagen often mentioned.

However, the club has denied these allegations.

FC Copenhagen's sports director, Sune Smith-Nielsen, previously rejected the claims during a General Assembly.

He said, "I can strongly deny that FC Copenhagen are poaching children under ten years of age... We do not recruit from Sweden at that age," and also dismissed any suggestions of bribery in youth football.
