RWANDA AND CONGO DRC SIGN PEACE AGREEMENT

RWANDA and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are set to sign a peace agreement this week in Washington, D.C. Despite ongoing tensions, both countries continue to dispute the main reasons behind the conflict in the eastern part of the DRC.

The DRC's Foreign Ministry has urged the international community to impose stricter sanctions on Rwanda, accusing it of supporting the M23 rebels.

Rwanda has consistently denied these claims, arguing that the DRC government has not managed its internal affairs properly and is now seeking enemies outside its borders.

The conflicting accusations from both sides are weakening current diplomatic talks and making it harder to trust the peace agreement.

Fighting is still happening in the east, and the security situation remains unstable. DRC President Felix Tshisekedi has confirmed he will be there for the signing on December 4, 2025.

However, Rwanda’s leader, Paul Kagame, hasn’t officially said whether he will attend, even though he has criticized Tshisekedi for slowing down the agreement’s progress.
