NETHERLANDS have set up two friendly matches in March to get ready for the upcoming World Cup. They will play against Norway and Ecuador, both of which are teams they might face in the tournament. The Dutch Football Association shared the schedule on Monday, shortly after the World Cup group stage was decided. The Netherlands were placed in Group F, joined by Japan, Tunisia, and the team that wins the European playoff between Albania, Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Under Ronald Koeman's leadership, the team will start with a home game against Norway on March 27, followed by a match against Ecuador just four days later.
Both games will take place in the Netherlands, though the exact locations haven't been decided yet. This tight schedule helps the squad get more practice and match experience before the big event.
Koeman explained that facing teams from different parts of the world is important.
He mentioned that playing against a European and a South American team will help his players adapt to various playing styles. He also said that these friendlies offer tough and high-quality competition, which is perfect for improving their strategies.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, starting in June.
With the preparations already in motion, the Netherlands are working hard to build up their form and aim for a strong performance on the international stage.
