MADAGASCAR’S President, Andry Rajoelina, Has Reassured Citizens That Both He And The Prime Minister Are In Full Control Of The Situation In The Country. In A Statement Posted On His Office's Official Facebook Page, Rajoelina Also Denied Rumors That He Had Fled The Country.
In A Separate Video Posted On Facebook, Prime Minister General Rufin Zafisambo Called For Calm And Urged All Sides To Prioritize Dialogue. "It Is Unacceptable For Armed Forces To Be Exchanging Gunfire," He Stated.
Earlier, Reports Had Emerged Of Clashes Between Capsat Security Units And The Gendarmerie At A Military Camp. The Prime Minister Expressed His Willingness To Resolve Divisions Within The Army Through Dialogue, Particularly Concerning Issues Involving The Capsat Unit.
He Further Announced That National Consultations Will Soon Be Held Under The Supervision Of The Council Of Christian Churches Of Madagascar (Ffkm), With The Participation Of Civil Society And Other National Stakeholders, Aiming To Find A Peaceful Solution.
"The Country Cannot Endure Another Crisis," He Concluded.
