MAINTENANCE WORKER SENTENCED FOR DRUGGING, RAPING, AND FILMING HIS WIFE FOR YEARS

A 61-year-old German man was given a prison sentence of more than eight years after being found guilty of drugging, raping, and filming his wife for several years, then sharing the videos online. The court in Aachen, Germany, announced this verdict on December 13, according to CNN. The crimes happened between 2018 and 2024, but police believe they actually took place over a period of almost fifteen years.

The man, known as Fernando P., was employed as a maintenance worker at a school.

He was convicted of several serious offenses, including aggravated rape, sexual assault, sexual coercion, dangerous violence, and serious invasion of privacy. The court found that he gave his wife sedatives without her knowledge, then raped her at home, filmed the incidents, and shared the videos in online groups and on different websites.

His sentence is eight years and six months in prison.

However, some of the charges against him were partially cleared, and he has the right to appeal within the time allowed by German law.

CNN called this case unique in German courts.

It has caused a lot of public discussion, especially because German laws on sexual consent and the handling of rape material are seen as lacking. This case follows the recent conviction of Dominique Pelicot in France, which has increased the debate in Europe about sexual violence linked to digital networks.
