According to the judiciary's news agency, the death sentence for Aghil Keshavarz was given because he was found guilty of spying for the Israeli government, working with their regime, and sharing information.

The punishment was approved by the Supreme Court and followed all legal steps. The news agency Mizan reported this.

This man, who was labeled as an "agent of Mossad," the Israeli intelligence service, was arrested in April and May 2025 in northern Iran, but the case was kept secret.

His death sentence was based on his clear confessions and evidence, which included photos and videos taken at military and security locations, according to Mizan.

The war between Iran and Israel started in June when Israel launched a major attack on military and nuclear sites in Iran as well as civilian areas.

This conflict lasted for 12 days, and the United States briefly joined in by attacking three key Iranian nuclear sites. A ceasefire was announced on June 24.

Since the war started, Iran has promised quick trials for people accused of working with Israel.

They have arrested several individuals and executed at least ten people who were found guilty of collaborating with Mossad.

Iran, which does not officially recognize Israel, has long accused the country of carrying out attacks on its nuclear facilities and assassinating its scientists.

In October, Tehran passed new laws.

Now, any kind of intelligence or spying activity for Israel, the United States, or other groups that are considered enemies of Iran will result in the loss of all assets and could lead to the death penalty.

Previously, the law did not target any specific country, and espionage was not always punishable by death.
