ONE person has died in a serious road accident that happened at Sultan Hamud in Makueni County on the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

The crash involved a Toyota Prado V8 that hit a trailer coming from Mombasa head-on.
Sultan Hamud Traffic Base Commander Patrick Mwando confirmed the incident.
He said the Prado was going from Nairobi towards Mombasa and had four people inside.
One person died right away, and the other three were seriously hurt.
The injured were first taken to Kilome Nursing Home in Emali for help and then flown by helicopter to Nairobi for better medical treatment.
Both cars involved in the crash have been taken to Sultan Hamud Police Station.
Investigations are still ongoing.
The police have not yet found out why the accident happened.
They are asking drivers to be careful on the highway, especially since there is a lot of traffic during this holiday season.
