TURKISH FOOTBALL ROCKED BY 46 ARREST WARRANTS IN EXPANDING BETTING SCANDAL

TURKISH authorities have issued arrest warrants for 46 people, including top-tier footballers, club officials, coaches, and commentators, as part of an expanding probe into insider betting within Turkey’s professional football leagues.

This investigation represents one of the most significant crackdowns on match-fixing in recent times.

The probe, which has already led to numerous arrests, includes prominent players from major Istanbul clubs Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

Officials say the scandal has deeply shaken Turkish football, as more evidence and suspects emerge.

Among the most high-profile individuals implicated is Fenerbahce captain Mert Hakan Yandas, accused of placing bets on his own team's matches through intermediaries.

Galatasaray's Metehan Baltaci is also among those detained, alongside club officials such as Adanademirspor president Metin Korkmaz and Antalyaspor sporting director Emrah Celik.

According to official reports, the coordinated arrests began early Friday at 7:15 AM across Istanbul province.

Five additional suspects are believed to be outside the country, with efforts ongoing to locate them so they can be brought before the courts.
