PUTIN ALLOWS CHINESE CITIZENS TO ENTER RUSSIA VISA-FREE FOR 30 DAYS

PRESIDENT Vladimir Putin has introduced a new policy to deepen the relationship between Russia and China. He signed an order allowing Chinese citizens to visit Russia without needing a visa for up to 30 days. This applies to tourists, businesspeople, academics, artists, and athletes from China.

Since February 2022, when Putin and China’s leader Xi Jinping signed a “Borderless” cooperation agreement, the two countries have been strengthening their strategic partnership.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the country has increasingly depended on China, especially for imports, to counteract the effects of Western sanctions.

Putin’s order stated that this move follows China’s decision to offer similar visa-free access to Russian citizens.

The new rules will be in effect until September 14, 2026, but they won’t apply to people looking for jobs, long-term students, or workers in logistics and transport.

In September, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said ordinary Russian citizens can now enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for one year, starting September 15.

This has now become a mutual agreement between the two countries.
