NETANYAHU APPEARS IN COURT AFTER STATEMENTS OF APOLOGY

ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his first court appearance since he asked President Isaac Herzog for a pardon in his ongoing corruption case. This move has received support from his ally, US President Donald Trump.

Opposition leaders have strongly opposed the pardon request, arguing it cannot be given without conditions.

Some demand that Netanyahu admit his mistakes and leave politics, while others insist that general elections, which are scheduled for October 2026, should happen before any pardon is approved.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has said he would support ending the case if Netanyahu agrees to leave politics entirely.

He believes this would help Israel move past the confusion caused by the long legal battle. Recent opinion polls suggest Bennett is the most likely person to lead the next government if Netanyahu steps down. This points to a significant change in Israel’s political direction in the near future.
