GUARDIOLA URGES DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT AS MANCHESTER CITY HOST IN-FORM SUNDERLAND

MANCHESTER CITY have once again gotten closer to winning the Premier League title after winning two games in a row, but their manager, Pep Guardiola, is still worried about some problems they are having at the back. Before facing Sunderland at home on Saturday, the team has allowed six goals in their last two league matches, which is a concern.

They beat Leeds United 3-2 and then had an exciting but messy 5-4 win against FulhamIn that game, they gave up three goals in just 21 minutes after leading 4-0. Guardiola pointed out that this pattern is worrying, because opponents don’t need to take many shots on target to score against them. Even though City have scored the most goals in the league—32 in total—with Erling Haaland leading the way with 15, they have also let in the most goals, 16, among the top six teams.

Guardiola believes the team needs to be more solid defensively without losing the attacking style that makes them so dangerous.

He says they must be "more solid" but keep building on their strong scoring record. He also says they can fix these issues and expects improvements soon, especially as the title race gets more competitive.

Sunderland are coming into the match in great form, sitting in sixth place with only one loss in their last seven league games.

The newly promoted team has taken points from top teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, which has earned Guardiola's respect. He called the game a "good challenge" and said Sunderland definitely deserve to be in a strong position in the league after being consistent in all their matches.
