Speaking On A Radio Program Earlier This Week, Museveni Said Foreign Actors Who Fear Uganda’s Development Are Supporting Efforts To Stir Up Chaos. “Many Of These Young People Being Misled In Tanzania And Elsewhere Are Confused By European Powers Worried About Our Growth. Our Industries Are Rising, Our Oil Is Coming, And They Want To Control Africa’s Resources,” He Said.
His Comments Came After Reports Of Violent Protests On October 29, Where Demonstrators — Mostly Youth — Destroyed Public And Private Property In Several Cities.
Security Forces Were Deployed In Dar Es Salaam, Mwanza, And Arusha To Contain The Unrest, Which Observers Say Reflects Growing Frustration Among Young People In The Region.
