TANZANIA’S Main Opposition Party, Chama Cha Demokrasia Na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), Has Issued A Public Statement Claiming That Its National Vice Chairperson, Hon. John Heche, Was Taken By Police Officers On Thursday, October 28, 2025. According To The Party, Heche Was Seized From The Mtumba Police Station Under The Pretext That He Was Wanted By The Regional Police Commander (RPC) Of Dodoma.
The Incident Reportedly Occurred In The Presence Of His Wife And The Party’s Central Zone Secretary, Ms. Ashura Masoud. When They Attempted To Follow The Police Vehicles To Learn Where Heche Was Being Taken, The Vehicles Allegedly Sped Away, Leaving Them Behind.
CHADEMA Stated That When Its Representatives Later Reached The RPC’s Office In Dodoma, They Were Informed That The Commander Had No Knowledge Of Any Order To Summon Or Detain Hon. Heche. As Of Now, His Whereabouts Remain Unknown, Prompting Serious Concern From Both His Family And The Party Regarding His Safety And Well-Being.
The Party Has Called On Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura, Director Of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ramadhan Kingai, The Dodoma RPC, And The Mtumba Police Station Commander To Urgently Clarify Heche’s Location And Provide Assurances About His Safety.
