UKRAINE has confirmed that its drones attacked and partially damaged two Russian oil tankers, referred to as the 'shadow fleet', as they were traveling through the Black Sea. This action is believed to be part of Kyiv's plan to weaken Moscow economically by reducing its oil revenue.
Verified footage shows the drones flying over the water heading toward the ships before exploding, causing a large fire that sent up thick black smoke.
While the damage to the vessels was significant, there were no reports of injuries. Turkish officials identified the targeted ships as the Kairos and Virat, both registered in Gambia.
The attacks occurred on Friday, with the Virat being struck again on Saturday, off the coast of Turkey. The strikes come as Ukraine intensifies its efforts to disrupt Russia's economy, especially its oil revenues, which are considered vital for funding Moscow's military actions in Ukraine.
