THE COMMISSIONER Of The Zanzibar Fire And Rescue Force, Rashid Abdullah, Has Confirmed That Members Of The Force Were Involved In A Road Accident While On An Official Tour Visiting Fire And Rescue Stations Across Unguja And Pemba.
According To Commissioner Abdullah, The Accident Occurred As Their Convoy Was Traveling From Southern To Northern Pemba. The Lead Vehicle Reportedly Lost Control, Resulting In The Death Of One Officer And Injuries To Six Others.
He Added That The Team Received Immediate Assistance From The Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), Which Deployed A Helicopter To Airlift The Injured Officers And The Body Of The Deceased To Unguja For Further Treatment And Official Procedures.
Confirming The Incident, Assistant Doctor Daudi Rashidi Mkasha Of Micheweni District Hospital Said They Received The Injured Officers And The Body Of The Fallen Firefighter Around Midday. He Noted That The Victims Were Given Initial Medical Care Before Being Transferred To Unguja For Specialized Attention.
Authorities Have Expressed Condolences To The Family Of The Deceased Officer And The Entire Fire And Rescue Force, While Investigations Into The Cause Of The Accident Continue. The Tragedy Has Drawn An Outpouring Of Sympathy From Citizens And Colleagues Alike Across Zanzibar.
