THE SONGWE Regional Police Commander, Augostino Senga, Has Announced Enhanced Security Measures To Safeguard Citizens And Property Before, During, And After Tanzania’s Upcoming General Election Scheduled For Wednesday, October 29, 2025.


Speaking To Journalists On October 27, 2025, Commander Senga Emphasized That The Region Remains Calm And Peaceful, With No Signs Of Unrest As Election Day Approaches.

“The Songwe Regional Police Force Is Fully Committed To Ensuring That Citizens Participate In The Election Peacefully And Safely. We Urge All Voters To Turn Out Calmly, As This Is Their Constitutional Duty,” Senga Said. He Added That Police Patrols Have Been Reinforced Across Polling Stations, Major Roads, And Public Gathering Areas, While Specialized Cyber Patrols Are Being Conducted To Monitor And Curb The Misuse Of Social Media Platforms.

Commander Senga Cautioned Individuals Using Social Media To Spread Hate Speech, Misinformation, Or Divisive Content, Warning That The Police Will Take Firm Legal Action Against Violators. “We Encourage Citizens To Use Online Platforms To Promote Peace, Patriotism, And Unity,” He Stated. He Also Called Upon Politicians, Religious Leaders, Journalists, And Civil Society Stakeholders To Cooperate And Uphold The Law During The Election Period.

He Further Noted That Maintaining Peace Is A Collective Responsibility, Emphasizing That The Police Are Working Closely With Other Security Agencies, The National Electoral Commission, Government Officials, Political Parties, And Peace Organizations To Ensure The Election Is Conducted In A Secure And Orderly Environment.
