📰. HIGH COURT REFUSES TUNDU LISSU'S BAIL AS TREASON CASE CONTINUES 💡

THE HIGH COURT, Sub-Registry Of Dar Es Salaam, Has Rejected A Bail Request Filed By CHADEMA National Chairperson Tundu Lissu On Friday, October 24, 2025, In His Ongoing Treason Trial.

Lissu Made The Bail Plea After The Prosecution Requested An Adjournment Of The Case, Citing The Absence Of Witnesses Scheduled To Testify That Day. However, The Court Dismissed The Application, Ruling That The Reasons Presented Were Insufficient To Warrant Bail At This Stage Of The Proceedings.

The State Attorneys Asked For The Case To Be Postponed Until November 3, 2025, Explaining That The Witnesses Expected To Testify Today Were Directly Connected To Evidence Previously Rejected By The Court Earlier In The Week.

The Disputed Evidence Included Data Storage Devices (A Flash Drive And Memory Card) Containing Video Footage Of Lissu’s Speech, Which Prosecutors Allege Contained Statements Threatening The Government — Forming The Basis Of The Treason Charge. The Court, However, Dismissed The Exhibits On October 22 And 23, 2025, Citing Flaws In The Chain Of Custody.

The Case Is Being Heard By A Three-Judge Panel Led By Justice Dunstan Ndunguru, Principal Judge Of The Iringa High Court Zone, Alongside Justices James Karayemaha And Ferdinand Kiwonde.

Lissu Faces Treason Charges Stemming From An Alleged Seditious And Threatening Speech Directed At The Government. The Trial Will Resume On November 3, 2025, Following The Court’s Approval Of The Prosecution’s Adjournment Request To Coordinate New Witnesses.
