A night that was supposed to be a fun music event turned into a dangerous situation at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, December 20, 2025. During Nigerian singer Asake's "Mr Money African Tour" concert, a big crowd at the stadium gates caused a deadly push and shove.

At least three people died, and many others were hurt, according to people who saw it happen and police reports.
The main problems happened outside the stadium where fans waited in long, messy lines for entry.
The disaster happened before the show even started.
Many fans arrived early and had to wait in lines for a long time, especially since it was raining hard and the event team wasn't giving good instructions.
Eyewitnesses said the event organizers made the crowd go through a single narrow entrance without proper safety measures like barriers or clear paths.
When the line started to move slowly, security stopped people from entering for at least 30 to 45 minutes.
Once the main gate opened, the problem moved into the stadium area.
Fans rushed toward another barrier near the entrance, and many were crushed as they tried to get in. One woman collapsed during the rush and died at the hospital. Others were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries like broken bones and breathing problems.
Officials are still checking the full number of people who were hurt or killed.
Safety experts and local groups have been talking about how Kenya needs better crowd control for big events, especially in places where there have been past accidents.
Nyayo Stadium had a deadly crowd accident in 2010 during a football match, which killed several fans.
That event showed how dangerous it can be when large groups aren't managed properly.
As the police investigate, the families of the victims and community groups are asking for answers from both the event organizers and the local authorities.
People are talking about the need for better planning, clearer communication, and stronger safety rules for big concerts that draw lots of people.
