Boniface, whose move to AC Milan fell through after he failed a medical check, explained that knee injuries kept showing up at important times in his development, from youth competitions to big professional moments.

After his failed transfer to Milan, Boniface joined Werder Bremen on loan in September 2025, and he's now dealing with another knee injury.

He shared, "When we were getting ready for the U17 Nations Cup, three weeks before the tournament, I got injured and couldn’t play.

Then, just a day before traveling for the U20 Nations Cup, I had another injury. After that, during the U20 World Cup, I was injured for two weeks."

"Right after I signed my first professional contract, I tore my ACL just a week later. Then, for the last AFCON with the Super Eagles, three days before the trip to Ivory Coast, I got hurt again," Boniface said during a Twitch livestream with Nigerian streamer Carter Efe.

Currently, Boniface is facing a knee injury at Werder Bremen. Reports say the medical team at Bayer Leverkusen has suggested surgery to fix the problem, which might keep him out for a long time.
