The 32-year-old England international opened the scoring in Seoul's 1-1 draw against Melbourne City in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday night.
He had already announced earlier that this would be his last game for the club. Lingard, who played 60 matches for FC Seoul, was emotional after the game as he watched a video tribute to "Our beloved captain" on the big screen.
The tribute said, "Your name and legacy will always be remembered in the history of our club. Seoul will always be your home. Thank you, our captain." Lingard, who joined the club in February last year, gave a heartfelt speech and thanked the fans before joining his teammates in a lap of honor.
He said on the day before the game that he had enjoyed "a happy two years" in South Korea.
"I've learned a lot, I've become more mature, and I've had a lot of responsibility this year as captain," said the attacking midfielder, who played 32 times for England, including in the 2018 World Cup semi-final.
"I can leave South Korea more mature, I believe." Lingard calmly scored in the 31st minute with a smooth finish and celebrated with a Michael Jackson-style moonwalk.
Melbourne City equalized midway through the second half.
