The body was found in an apartment in Medina, on Rue 39x18, on the third floor. The victim lived there with nine other students who are originally from the Ziguinchor region. Persistent pain after an operation
According to GH, one of the victim's roommates, N. Seydi had been having serious stomach pain for a while. After seeing a doctor, he had surgery on December 9, 2025, at a well-known public hospital in Dakar, according to Seneweb sources close to the investigation.
After the operation, NS needed to keep dressing his wounds, so he went back to the hospital last Thursday. When he came back around 11 a.m., he told his friends his pain was still there and getting worse.
Because his condition was getting worse, his classmates took him to the UCAD infirmary. A nurse gave him an IV drip, and then the student went back to his apartment. GH said that N. Seydi was still in a lot of pain and vomiting. Blood was found in his vomit, which worried his roommates even more.
The next morning, on Friday, when he woke up, the student continued to vomit. Not knowing what to do, his classmates asked him to lie down on a mattress in a room. Some stayed with him while others went to Friday prayers. When they returned from prayer, the students realized the victim was not breathing anymore.
They immediately called the police. The body was taken out by firefighters from the Malick Sy fire station and taken to Abass Ndao Hospital after a request was made to the chief forensic doctor for an autopsy.
An investigation has started to find out exactly how the young student died. The autopsy will help determine whether the death was due to complications from the surgery or other medical reasons.
