DRC AND RWANDA SIGN HISTORIC PEACE AGREEMENT TO END EASTERN CONGO CONFLICT

THE leaders of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda have signed a major peace agreement aimed at ending the prolonged conflict in the eastern part of the DRC. This agreement marks a significant step towards restoring peace and stability in a region that has suffered years of violence and displacement.

In his address, DRC President Félix Tshisekedi expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for facilitating the signing of the agreement.

Tshisekedi described the deal as a historic milestone for both the DRC and Rwanda, signaling a new chapter in regional cooperation and mutual understanding.

Rwanda's President Paul Kagame also thanked Trump and his administration, praising the approach as a "new method" that addressed the root causes of the conflict—something he said previous mediators had failed to achieve.

The conflict in eastern DRC has claimed thousands of lives and displaced many more civilians, who have been forced to flee their homes in fear.

The new peace pact offers renewed hope for stability, security, and lasting reconciliation between the two neighboring countries.
