📰. TANGANYIKA LAW SOCIETY: THE HECHE TERRORIST ATTACK IS A REMINDER OF THE PAIN OF TANZANIANS 💡

THE PRESIDENT Of The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS), Advocate Boniface Mwabukusi, Has Strongly Condemned The Decision By The Tanzania Police Force And The Office Of The Director Of Public Prosecutions (DPP) To Arrest And Charge CHADEMA Deputy Chairperson (Mainland) John Heche With Terrorism-Related Offenses. Mwabukusi Described The Move As Unlawful And Politically Motivated, Arguing That It Undermines Democracy In Tanzania.

In A Statement Posted On His X (Formerly Twitter) Account, Mwabukusi Criticized The Authorities, Saying Their Actions Were “Pouring Fuel While Thinking They Are Putting Out A Fire” By Linking Heche To Terrorism. “It Is Absurd To Accuse John Heche Of Terrorism. The Continued Practice Of Fabricating Cases To Suppress People Is A Disgrace To The Legal Profession,” Mwabukusi Wrote, Adding That The Judiciary Should Not Allow Itself To Be Used As A Tool Against Democracy.

Mwabukusi Further Alleged That Heche’s Arrest And Detention Were Unlawful, Calling For Oversight And Restraint Over The Police And The DPP’s Office. He Warned That Such Actions Could Escalate Tensions Rather Than Restore Peace. The TLS President Also Pledged Legal Support For Heche And For Families Affected By Violence And Injuries During Recent Protests.

Speaking To Jambo TV On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Heche’s Lawyer, Advocate Hekimu Mwasipu, Confirmed That His Client Had Been Transferred From Dodoma To Dar Es Salaam, Where He Is Expected To Appear In Court To Face Charges. According To Mwasipu, The Charges Include Alleged Involvement In Terrorist Activities Between Kimara And Magomeni, And Separately In Msewe And External Areas.
