Police Said The Attack On Monday Night In The Western State Of Kwara Targeted Isapa Village, A Village That Is Adjacent To A Village Where At Least 35 People Were Kidnapped A Week Earlier.

Last Week, An Armed Group Kidnapped More Than 300 Children From A Catholic School In Niger State, North-Central Nigeria; As Well As 25 Girls From Another School In Kebbi State, North-West, And 13 Girls In Borno State, East Of The Country.

Nigeria Has Been Grappling With A Long-Running Security Crisis Fuelled By Terrorist Attacks And Violence By “Bandits” Who Raid Villages, Kill People And Kidnap Them For Ransom.

Investigation Underway

Kwara State Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi Said The Kidnappers In The Latest Attack Were Herdsmen Who Were “Shooting And Abducting Women And Children From Farming Families In The Area.”

“Search Operations Have Begun. Police Are On The Ground With Village Investigators,” He Told AFP.

The Commissioner Also Said One Woman Had Managed To Escape And Return To Her Village.

The Attack Comes Just A Week After Gunmen Killed Two People And Abducted At Least 35 Worshippers In An Attack On A Church In Eruku, About 20km From Isapa. The Abducted Worshippers Have Already Returned Home.
