A FORMER British soldier wanted in Kenya for the murder of a woman near a British army training camp 12 years ago was denied bail on Monday pending his extradition to the country.
Robert Purkiss is accused of killing 21-year-old Agnes Wanjiru near a military training camp in 2012, with Kenyan authorities issuing an arrest warrant for him in September.
Purkiss, who was arrested this month and has been in custody since, "strongly denies" any involvement in Wanjiru's death, his lawyers told Westminster Magistrates' Court.
Lawyers representing the Kenyan authorities say Purkiss' fellow soldiers claim he confessed to the killings on the night of the incident.
