🚨 CHURCH CALLS FOR JUSTICE AFTER ELECTION VIOLENCE. ‼️

THE EVANGELICAL Lutheran Church In Tanzania (ELCT) Has Urged The Government To Ensure Justice For All Citizens Who Lost Their Lives Or Were Affected During And After The Violent Protests Following The October 29, 2025, General Election.

The Church Strongly Condemned The Use Of Excessive Force, Reminding Leaders That Such Actions Cannot Bring Blessings. Quoting The Bible, The Statement Said, “Human Anger Does Not Produce The Righteousness That God Desires… When The Righteous Are In Authority, People Rejoice.”

ELCT Presiding Bishop Alex Malasusa Made These Remarks In A Public Statement Released On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Titled “A Word From The ELCT On The Events Of The October 2025 General Election Week.”

The Appeal From The Lutheran Church Echoes Earlier Calls From Catholic Leaders, Who Also Condemned The Killings And Violence Against Citizens. During Special Prayer Masses Held For Victims, Dar Es Salaam Archbishop Jude Thadeus Ruwa’ichi Said The Tragic Events Had Wounded The Nation And Tarnished Tanzania’s Honor. “Some Were Shot While Protesting, Others Killed In Their Homes—Such Acts Have No Place In Our Country And Are An Offense Before God,” He Said.
