THE Tanzania Human Rights and Good Governance Commission (THBUB) has said it is fully prepared to begin a thorough investigation following the violence that occurred during the General Elections held on October 29, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of civilians and the destruction of public and private property.
Speaking to journalists today, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in Dodoma, the Chairman of the Commission, Retired Judge Mathew Mwaimu, said the aim of conducting the investigation is to advise the government to be able to control such incidents in future elections, stressing that such incidents cannot be tolerated in a society that values peace and the rule of law.
“In any case, incidents of this kind that have occurred should not be supported, because they disrupt the peace of the country and endanger the security of the citizens. We as the Commission, due to these incidents, have decided to conduct a thorough investigation and have already made good arrangements to ensure that this matter is dealt with appropriately”, said Judge Mwaimu.
