TANZANIA’S Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, Has Criticized Foreign Media Outlets, Urging Them To Follow Journalism Ethics And Standards.
Speaking To Journalists In Dar Es Salaam, Msigwa Mentioned Cnn, Al Jazeera, Bbc, And Dw, Accusing Them Of Publishing One-Sided Stories With Ill Intentions Toward Tanzania.
“It Is Not Fair For Media Outlets To Publish One-Sided Stories And Later Claim That Government Officials Were Unavailable For Comment,” Msigwa Said, Urging Them To Issue Reports That Uphold “Balance, Fairness, And Accountability.”
Msigwa Specifically Accused Cnn Of Violating Journalistic Ethics By Publishing Reports Filled With “Allegations” Against The Government Without Offering It The Right Of Reply.
He Urged The U.S.-Based Outlet To Communicate With The Government To Ensure They Publish Factual Content, Citing The Legal Principle Of Natural Justice, Which States That One Cannot Accuse Someone Without Giving Them The Chance To Respond.
