🚨 TANZANIA PRESIDENT SAMIA DEFENDS INTEGRITY OF NEWLY FORMED INVESTIGATION COMMISSION. ‼️

PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan Has Reaffirmed Her Confidence In The Newly Formed Independent Investigation Commission Tasked With Probing Incidents Of Unrest Before And After Tanzania’s October 29, 2025 Elections. This Comes After Opposition Parties Expressed Strong Reservations About The Commission’s Credibility.

Both CHADEMA And ACT-Wazalendo Have Rejected The Commission, Claiming It Is Not Independent And Alleging That Some Members Have Links To The Very Violence They Are Meant To Investigate. CHADEMA Deputy Chairperson John Heche Argued That Suspects Cannot Investigate Themselves And Insisted On The Formation Of An International Commission Capable Of Conducting A Fair And Impartial Inquiry—A Stance Echoed By ACT-Wazalendo.

Responding To These Concerns During The Commission’s Inauguration In Dodoma, President Samia Said She Has Full Confidence In The Team And Its Ability To Deliver Accurate Findings That Will Guide The Nation Forward. She Emphasized The Importance Of Conducting An Initial Internal Investigation Before Inviting International Bodies To Participate.

“Our Colleagues In The Opposition Say They Do Not Trust Any Local Commission And Want One From The UN, AU, Or EU. But I Have Great Trust In This Commission, In Your Expertise And Experience. I Believe Your Recommendations Will Help Move The Country From Where We Are To Where We Need To Go,” President Samia Said.

The President Neither Fully Dismissed Nor Endorsed The Idea Of Establishing An International Commission But Stressed That External Teams Should Work Hand In Hand With Local Investigators Who Would Have Already Gathered Critical Preliminary Information.
