Party Leaders Have Said Zuma-Sambudla Left Voluntarily And Relinquished All Public Duties With Immediate Effect, Insisting The Party Had Nothing To Do With The Scandal. MK National Coordinator Nathi Nhleko Said Her Resignation Did Not Amount To An Admission Of Wrongdoing.
The Move Comes Days After Police Announced They Would Investigate Her At The Request Of Her Half-Sister, Nkosazana Zuma-Mncube, Who Has Accused Her And Two Others Of Being Involved In Sending The Men. During A Press Conference, Zuma-Sambudla Did Not Address The Allegations And Has Not Yet Made A Public Statement Defending Herself.
The South African Government Confirmed Earlier This Month That 17 Of Its Citizens Were Stranded In The Donbas Region Of Ukraine After They Were Allegedly Lured To Fight For Mercenary Forces With Promises Of High Salaries. The Government Has Continued Efforts To Repatriate Them While An Investigation Into Their Journey Is Awaited.
