THE BISHOP Of The Evangelical Lutheran Church Of Tanzania (KKKT) Diocese Of Karagwe, Dr. Benson Bagonza, Has Sparked A Wide Debate After Writing A Long Message On His Facebook Page Giving His Perspective On The Political Situation, Security And Direction Of The Country, Claiming That He Is Ready To Be Kidnapped If It Means Moving The Nation Towards Justice And Reconciliation.
In His Message, Bishop Bagonza Said The Nation Has A Long Journey And Needs To Start Anew By Acknowledging Where Things Went Wrong.
Speaking On The Issue Of Kidnapping, He Said That A National Leader Needs To Be Released To Stop Such Acts, Which He Claimed Continue To Cause Unrest Among The People.
“A National Leader Should Stand Up And Declare An End To The Kidnappings.
He Warned That Ignoring The Measure Would Endanger The Lives Of Soldiers, Civil Servants And Citizens Due To Some Using The Opportunity To Commit Evil Acts Or Benefit Themselves.
Regarding Political Issues, Bishop Bagonza Has Proposed The Release Of Those He Called Political Prisoners, Saying That The Measure Could Help The Nation Start Anew And Reconcile.
He Has Also Called On The Government To Stop Intimidating Or Monitoring People On Social Media, Claiming That Such Actions Increase The Division In Society.
Speaking Of The Investigation Into The Incidents Of Protests And The Harm That Occurred, He Said The Public Expects To Investigate The Incidents Of Deaths, Disappearances And Injuries, Not The People Who Were Protesting.
In Other Areas, Bishop Bagonza Has Criticized The Use Of Funds In Task Forces Which He Has Called Uncoordinated, Claiming That Involving Religious Leaders In Their Operations Tarnishes The Image Of These Institutions.
In Addition, He Has Warned Against Continuing To Accuse People Who Pray For The Country Of Being The Source Of Incitement, Saying It Is Not A Good Reputation To Have A Large Number Of Political Refugees.
