SOUTH SUDAN’S President Salva Kiir Mayardit Has Dismissed His Second Vice President, Benjamin Bol Mel, And Removed Him From His Military Position. The Announcement Was Made On National Television (SSBC) On Wednesday.
Other Top Officials Who Were Fired Include The SPLM Party’s Secretary-General Paul Logale Jumi, The Governor Of The Central Bank Addis Ababa Othow, And The Commissioner General Of The Revenue Authority, Simon Akuei.
Akol Paul Kordit Has Been Appointed As The New SPLM Secretary-General, While William Anyuon Kuol Will Now Serve As The New Head Of Revenue.
The Government Did Not Give Any Reason For Bol Mel’s Dismissal. Bol Mel, Who Was Once Seen As A Possible Successor To President Kiir, Had Been Appointed Vice President In February 2025 And Promoted To A Four-Star General In September The Same Year.
