THE CHURCH of Uganda has described the appointment of Sarah Mullally as the first female Archbishop of Canterbury as "Sad News," due to her "Unbiblical" stance on same-sex marriage.
Mullally’s appointment was announced on Friday, making her the highest-ranking leader in the Church of England, which is the mother church of the global Anglican Communion with 85 million believers.
Conservative members of the Communion, especially in Africa, have long disagreed with their more liberal Western counterparts, particularly on the ordination of female clergy and issues of family morality.
