TANZANIA’S National Electoral Commission (INEC) Has Issued Ten Key Directives To Voters And Stakeholders Ahead Of The General Election Scheduled For Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Emphasizing That All Preparations Have Been Completed.
The Commission Urged Citizens To Exercise Their Constitutional Right To Vote Peacefully And In Accordance With Election Laws.
The Announcement Was Made On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, By NEC Chairperson Justice Jacobs Mwambegele, Who Assured The Public That Election Officials Have Received Full Training And That Procedures Are In Place To Ensure A Smooth Voting Process Nationwide. “The NEC Has Finalized All Preparations For The 2025 General Election. We Urge All Tanzanians To Turn Out Peacefully, Follow The Law, And Protect The Stability Of Our Nation,” Justice Mwambegele Said.
Among The Ten Directives Issued, Justice Mwambegele Clarified That Voters Whose Names Appear On The Permanent Voters Register But Whose Photos Are Missing Will Still Be Allowed To Vote, Provided Other Details On Their Voter Cards Are Accurate. He Added That Voters Who Have Lost Or Damaged Their Cards May Use Alternative Identification Such As A National ID (NIDA), Driver’s License, Or Passport For Verification.
However, Voters Whose Information Does Not Appear In The Official Register Will Not Be Permitted To Vote, As The Register Remains The Legally Recognized Source For Voter Verification. The Commission Also Announced That Voters From Abolished Wards, Including Kanoge, Katumba, Mishamo, And Milambo, Have Been Reassigned To New Approved Polling Centers To Ensure Everyone Has The Opportunity To Participate In The National Exercise.
