AUTHORITIES In Songwe Region, Tanzania, Have Launched An Investigation After Unknown Assailants Set Fire To The Home Of A Local Police Officer In Ikumbilo Village, Ileje District, Destroying Property Worth More Than Tsh 2 Million.
Confirming The Incident On Friday, October 24, 2025, Songwe Regional Police Commander Augostino Senga Said The Attack Occurred On The Night Of October 22, While The Officer, Inspector Nsajigwa Mwajeka, Was Away On Special Duty.
According To Commander Senga, The Fire Gutted Two Rooms Of The Officer’s House And Was Discovered By Chitete Ward Executive Officer, Darkson Kamendu. Items Destroyed In The Blaze Included Police Uniforms, Civilian Clothes, Kitchen Utensils, Maize, A Bed, A Mattress, And Other Personal Belongings.
“Preliminary Investigations Suggest That The Perpetrators Gathered Several Items Onto The Bed Before Setting Them On Fire Using Matchsticks Found At The Scene,” Said Senga.
He Added That No Arrests Have Been Made Yet, But Police Are Actively Pursuing The Suspects. “We Are Conducting A Thorough Investigation, And Once Those Responsible Are Identified, They Will Face The Full Force Of The Law,” He Stated.
