THE GOVERNMENT Of Tanzania Has Confirmed Plans To Construct A New State-Of-The-Art Stadium In Arusha As Part Of Preparations To Host The 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON). According To Gerson Msigwa, Permanent Secretary In The Ministry Of Culture, Arts, And Sports, The New Arena Will Seat 30,000 Spectators And Serve As One Of The Official Venues For The Continental Tournament. Msigwa Described The Project As A “Beacon Of National Pride” That Will Elevate Both Arusha And Tanzania’s Profile In International Sports.
Alongside The New Construction, Msigwa Also Provided An Update On The Renovation Of The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium In Dar Es Salaam. The Refurbishment, Set For Completion On August 24, Includes The Replacement Of All 60,000 Seats And Other Major Upgrades Designed To Enhance Spectator Comfort And Safety. “Once Renovations Are Finished, The Venue Will Undergo A Remarkable Transformation,” Msigwa Said, Adding That The Improvements Will Give The Stadium A World-Class Atmosphere.
The Government Has Allocated Over 31 Billion Tanzanian Shillings For The Mkapa Stadium Refurbishment, Underscoring Its Commitment To Elevating Sports Infrastructure Across The Country.
