TSYGANKOV INSPIRES LATE GIRONA COMEBACK TO CLAIM FIRST AWAY WIN OF THE SEASON

GIRONA managed to escape the relegation zone in a dramatic way after Viktor Tsygankov scored two goals in the final stages of the game, helping his team to a 2-1 victory against Real Sociedad. This was Girona's first away win of the LaLiga season. Sociedad almost scored early on, with Takefusa Kubo hitting the bar inside the first two minutes, but their attacks were not very effective. Girona came close to scoring in the first half when Tsygankov forced Alex Remiro to make a brilliant save.

Sociedad finally took the lead 10 minutes before halftime. Captain Igor Zubeldia sent Gonçalo Guedes through with a great long pass from his own half. The forward calmly put the ball past Paulo Gazzaniga, adding to his own record of scoring when his team scores at least three goals in a game. However, that trend didn't happen this time. Sociedad led 1-0 at half-time, only their second lead in LaLiga this season.

Girona came out strong in the second half, with Arnau Martínez and Azzedine Ounahi hitting the woodwork as they tried to get back in the game. The momentum seemed to be fading, but a moment of quality gave them new hope. Ounahi won a free-kick, then chipped a cross into the box, and Tsygankov made a precise finish to equalize with 15 minutes left.

That wasn't the end. Nine minutes later, Alex Moreno ran into the box and delivered a low cross that Tsygankov met with a clever backheel, leaving Remiro completely wrong-footed to make it 2-1. Sociedad had no response and suffered their third straight league loss, staying in 14th place. Girona, on the other hand, moved up past Mallorca to 17th, securing their second away win in 17 LaLiga games this season.
