In a social media post, the President stated, "I just signed a proclamation that further restricts and limits the entry of foreign nationals to protect the security of the United States."
The updated list includes Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, South Sudan, and Syria.
Additionally, two other countries, Laos and Sierra Leone, are moving from partial to full restrictions, according to the President’s proclamation.
Travelers from Palestine, holding passports issued by the Palestinian Authority, are also subject to these new restrictions.
The Trump administration had already placed full travel bans on a dozen countries.
This move regarding Syria follows a deadly attack on American soldiers in the country’s central region, which occurred just a few days ago.
