AFCON 2025: BAD NEWS FOR SENEGAL, ILAY CAMARA OUT! (OFFICIAL)

JUST a few days before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations begins on Sunday, December 21, Senegal has faced some disappointing news. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has confirmed that Ilay Camara, the country's right-back, has pulled out of the tournament.

The FSF shared that Camara was injured while playing for his club on Sunday, December 14, 2025, during the game between Anderlecht and Sint-Truiden.

An MRI scan done in Dakar on the same day showed a grade II muscle injury to his right hamstring. As a result, he will not be able to take part in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Camara had to leave the match during Anderlecht's win against Sint-Truiden.

But right after the game, before any more tests were done, his coach, Besnik Hasi, said Camara wouldn't miss the Africa Cup of Nations. He mentioned that Camara had a small injury and was substituted as a precaution because of a thigh strain. However, the tests that were carried out later confirmed a different story.
