RUBEN AMORIM WISHES FOR A MORE CLINICAL MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM AFTER BOURNEMOUTH DRAW

MANCHESTER United's manager Ruben Amorim said his team inspired the Old Trafford crowd during an exciting 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, but they need to be more decisive to turn draws into wins.

Three times United took the lead against the Cherries on Monday, marking what might be the best attacking display of Amorim's time in charge.

Matheus Cunha scored his second goal for the club, Bruno Fernandes curled in a stunning free-kick, and Amad Diallo, who was at the Africa Cup of Nations, opened the scoring.

However, United's defensive weaknesses without Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt were on show, as they failed to win for the third time in a row at home.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to 10-man Everton last month and also let a lead slip in a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Amorim was frustrated by missed chances during a strong first half.

"We are really disappointed," said the Portuguese coach.

"It might seem like we lost the two points in the second half, but I think we lost them in the first half.

We dominated and made so many chances.

We had to go to half-time with a different result. In the end, we deserved more. It was a fun game for everyone at home.

People especially at Old Trafford want to win but they also want to be inspired by good football.

We did that well in certain moments. It was a good performance, but we need to be more clinical because we created so many chances.

"A point lifts United up to sixth in the Premier League, just two points behind the top four.

Amorim's team could be in a better position if they had held on in games they were leading this season.

But they also had to thank goalkeeper Senne Lammens for continuing a remarkable record of never losing a home league match when they were winning at half-time since 1984.

He made two last-minute saves from David Brooks. "Lammens did really well," added Amorim. "There were chances for both sides, but we created more. We need to find ways to close out games because this has happened many times.

That's part of the process.

We try to do things the best we can, but in some moments, it's not enough."
