We all know about Google right? Whenever we want to know about something we search there. Now, remember the magic clip dolls you were searching for earlier? When we searched we got to know of different sellers in india who sell those dolls. This is what AdWords is. Sellers who want to find people searching for them give Google their details and whenever someone searches for their products, Google shows their details to them. These sellers pay Google some money when someone clicks on their name on Google.
Kids are smart enough these days to understand it. However, I'd still like to try and make all this sound a little better. I'd prefer not to talk about money matters to a 5 year old. Not sure if a 5 year old would actually understand this, but I'll try:
Consider the whole world to be your friend. One day you realise you have a lot of pencils that you can lend but you don't have a pen. Since the whole world is your friend, you can lend them the pencils that you have and also ask them for a pen right? We should share what we have with others.
Now, as you know the world is HUGE (widening my eyes to say how huge it is) how do you connect with them? Before you ask, we don't have their or their parents' numbers, oh and Facebook is also not an option.
We do have a big friend named Google. So what do all people do, they tell Google that we have the stuff that people can get from them. Whoever wants something can go and search on Google for it and Google will give them a list of all the friends who can give them that with details on how to get it, what do the friends want, where do they live, etc etc.
So for your pencils, you can give Google all the details and whenever someone is searching for Pencils, Google will show them your details. For the pen you want, simply go to Google and search for pen and it'll show you all the friends who can give a pen to you.
Since Google is being nice and connecting all these friends, whenever someone searches for something and clicks on one of the friend options, that friend gives Google a small compensation for connecting them.
