A former councilor has been taken to court and charged with several sexual offenses against his ex-wife over a 13-year period.

Philip Young faces 56 charges, including multiple rape allegations and accusations of drugging his ex-wife, Joanne Young.She has chosen not to remain anonymous in court.
At Swindon Magistrates' Court, Philip Young, who is 49 and now lives on Amberley Road in Enfield, though previously lived in Swindon, gave his name and address.
He did not say sorry. Five other men who are also accused of sexually abusing Ms. Young, who is 48, appeared in court too. Two of them deny all the charges.
