SPEAKING to the newspaper La Provence, French President Emmanuel Macron shared that he had been reached out to by an African leader on Facebook. This leader thought there was a coup happening in France. The African president was fooled by an AI-made video that spread quickly online and was viewed over 13 million times.

He said, "I even got a message from a colleague.
To be honest, it came from one of my African friends." The message read, "Dear President, what is happening in your country? I am very worried." However, the name of the African leader who sent the message wasn't made public.
According to Jeune Afrique, the African leader was tricked by a video that showed a journalist near the Elysée Palace.
The journalist said, "Unofficial reports suggest there's a coup in France, led by a colonel whose name hasn't been revealed, and President Emmanuel Macron might fall."
