Ghana's Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, stated that the arrests happened during an overnight operation led by the country's Cyber Security Authority, along with the Ghana Police Service.
In a statement on Wednesday, he mentioned that the arrested individuals are believed to be Nigerian nationals, based on initial interviews.
This group includes 46 men and two women.
According to officials, the suspects are involved in serious cybercrimes such as love scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illegal online gold trading.
During the operation, items like laptops, mobile phones, and internet devices were seized.
Mr George said Ghana will keep working to stop cybercrime and added, "We will continue to relentlessly pursue cybercriminals."
These arrests happened shortly after the Ghana Cyber Security Authority arrested 32 Nigerian nationals suspected of cybercrimes during an operation in Kasoa-Tuba, near Kasoa in the Central Region.
