DON JAZZY REVEALS HE SPENT $4–5M TO MAKE REMA’S “CALM DOWN” A GLOBAL HIT

DON JAZZY has shared that he spent between $4 million and $5 million (Tsh 9.8 billion to Tsh 12.2 billion) to help make Rema's song "Calm Down" a worldwide hit. In a recent interview with Toolz and Bounce, he explained that achieving international success needs a lot of money and a long-term plan.

He mentioned that the effort behind the "Calm Down" campaign was necessary to create a global impact, as making a big moment in Afrobeats is expensive.

When asked about the song's earnings, he said the income is "very, very huge."

The song's success supports that statement. The remix with Selena Gomez has over 1.2 billion YouTube views, sold more than 8 million units in the U.S., reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart for a whole year.

"Calm Down" remains one of the biggest Afrobeats releases ever, proving that both Rema and Don Jazzy are major forces in the global music scene.
