IN the first games of the second round of the Dutch KNVB Beker, no amateur teams managed to surprise the bigger clubs. FC Den Bosch managed to win late on, avoiding a bigger upset.
Heracles Almelo faced VV Hoogeveen, a team from the fourth tier, at the Asito Stadium.
The Eredivisie side handled their opponents easily, winning 4-1.
Heracles started slowly but took the lead in the 28th minute through Mike te Wierik.
In the second half, Ajdin Hrustic, Tristan van Gilst, and Thomas Bruns all scored within the first 30 minutes, making it 4-0.
Hoogeveen had a chance to get back into the game when their captain, Levon van Dijk, made a dangerous tackle on Djevencio van der Kust, resulting in a penalty.
Sava-Arangel Cestic, who hadn’t played in two years due to an ankle injury, stepped up to take the spot kick. He tried a Panenka shot, but it hit the crossbar.
In the end, Hoogeveen pulled a goal back late on through an own goal by Alec van Hoorenbeeck.
