The atmosphere at Arsenal has been very positive, as they push for success in four different competitions.
While the EFL Cup isn't the main focus for Mikel Arteta, the way they started the game showed they were definitely ready to take it seriously.
Crystal Palace's goalkeeper, Walter Benítez, was tested more than once, making two big saves.
First, he stopped Noni Madueke, then he made a great save to keep out a header from Gabriel Jesus that seemed destined for the net.
Benítez kept up the pressure, saving another shot from Madueke, and for a while, it looked like the game might end goalless.
Gabriel Martinelli kept pressing on the left, setting up Jurriëen Timber, who almost scored with a header that went just over the bar.
By halftime, Palace had managed to hold on to their clean sheet.
In the second half, they came back with more energy. Adam Wharton had a long-range effort that went wide, and Palace started to look more dangerous.
Arteta made some changes, bringing on Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
Odegaard's cross was headed wide by Jesus, but the second half didn't bring the kind of pressure Arsenal had in the first.
The game turned when Chris Richards had to leave the field due to injury.
Just before the 81st minute, Arsenal finally broke the deadlock from a set-piece. Maxence Lacroix accidentally redirected the ball into his own net, giving Arsenal the lead.
Just moments later, Will Hughes had a chance to give Palace the lead, but he missed.
Then, in stoppage time, Marc Guehi scored a stunning goal from close range, equalizing.
This led to a tense penalty shootout.
The Gunners eventually won 8-7 after Lacroix's spot-kick was saved.
Considering the chances both teams created, it's hard not to see why Arsenal are in the last four.
A fourth straight win across all competitions has left Arteta's team in great shape. Now they'll focus on their Premier League title push when Brighton visit the Emirates on Saturday.
