DRONE STRIKE ON SUDAN KINDERGARTEN KILLS OVER 50, INCLUDING 33 CHILDREN

DRONE attack in the town of Kalogi, in Sudan's South Kordofan region, killed over 50 people, including 33 children, on Saturday. The Sudanese Doctors Network and the military have blamed the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the strike, though the RSF has not yet issued an official statement.

The RSF, in turn, has accused the Sudanese military of launching a drone attack on a market and a fuel station near the Adre border in Darfur the day before.

These incidents come amid Sudan's ongoing conflict, which began in April 2023 following a violent power struggle between the military leadership and the RSF, who were once allies in the country's political landscape.

According to Sudan's foreign ministry, the kindergarten in Kalogi was hit twice by rockets, and civilians— including health workers who rushed to rescue children—were attacked in a second strike.

The repeated targeting has sparked renewed alarm among humanitarian groups struggling to operate in active conflict zones across the country.

UNICEF condemned the attack, calling the killing of children in their place of learning a grave violation of international child-protection laws.

The agency urged all parties to immediately halt attacks on civilians and allow unrestricted humanitarian access as the crisis deepens.
