MANCHESTER CITY CRUISE TO 3–0 VICTORY OVER SUNDERLAND TO CLOSE GAP ON PREMIER LEAGUE LEADERS

MANCHESTER CITY ended a flawless week with a dominant 3-0 win against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium, marking their third victory in seven days and continuing their strong home performances. With Arsenal having dropped points earlier that day, City capitalized on the opportunity, moving within two points of the league leaders. Despite controlling the ball from the start, Sunderland's solid defense initially made it difficult for City to create clear chances.

The breakthrough came just after the half-hour mark when Rúben Dias struck a powerful 30-yard shot that reminded fans of Vincent Kompany’s legendary long-range goal, sending the crowd into excitement.

Shortly after, Josko Gvardiol headed in a corner from Phil Foden, doubling City's lead and further boosting their first-half goal tally. These two quick goals handed City full control of the game.

Sunderland showed determination in the second half and came close to scoring, with Wilson Isidor testing goalkeeper Donnarumma and Granit Xhaka's powerful shot hitting the crossbar.

However, City's quality shone through again in the 65th minute when Rayan Cherki delivered a stunning rabona cross for Foden, who headed the ball past the keeper to make the result certain. Cherki continued to impress and nearly scored himself, only being denied by a sharp save from Robin Roefs.

City maintained control for the rest of the match, showing the dominance that has been a hallmark of their recent title-winning campaigns.

While consistency will be crucial in their race with Arsenal, this performance highlighted their attacking depth and control. Sunderland, now in seventh place, will turn their attention to their important Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United next week.
